FIAT DUCATO II ducato automatic gearbox (ZF) problem 2003. Can you use the manual change ok and if so does the van perform properly What mileage has it done and has the trans been serviced. The gearbox never had any service so no oil change. The ducato has 110.000km driven. Manual gearshifting is working perfect.

I have a Hymer B544 - Fiat Ducato Automatic. On returning from a trip and about 20 miles from home the engine seemed to suddenly loose power. The gearbox semed to be searching for a gear. I managed to limp home. I don't know whether it is the automatic gear box playing up ie a sensor problem.
anyway, I've had problems with the transmission so I've taken it to 2 automatic transmission specialists (that i trust) but its still stuck in limping mode or 3rd gear, plugged the scanner in and it says there are no faults noted. I'm just really frustrated and confused, any advice would do thanks. homeward Brain stopped play May 22, 2012 6,303
A bit of searching the Web seems to indicate it is a variant of the ZF 9HP gearbox produced by ZF Group (ZF Friedrichshafen AG), essentially German but, like so many these days, now multinational. They appear to manufacture in over a dozen countries around the world, so not sure where they are actually built.Lower the unit down until there is clearance between the lower edge of the inner wing and the gearbox end flange. Now you have room to part the gearbox from the engine. Support the engine with the small jack under the rear of the oil pan. Remove the remaining upper back and lower front clutch housing to engine bolts. dUDEOcz.
