The Model Y isn’t quite as rapid as an equivalent Tesla Model 3 (blame the extra weight for that). A RWD vehicle with snow tires is better than an AWD vehicle with All seasons, and both are better than either version with summer tires.

The Tesla Model 3 was greeted with plenty of hype. The Ev boasts of over 200 miles per charge, a top speed of 130 miles per hour, and an acceleration of zero to 60 miles per hour in less than six seconds. Not to mention the allure of the Autopilot system, which — at the time — was believed to reach full autonomy in the near future.

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD with standard 18" wheels has an EPA Combined range of 272 miles (438 km), but it's over 260 miles (419 km) in the EPA Highway test.

Based on my experience with the trip, 240 mi = is roughly 110% of M3SR's EPA estimated 272 mile range. So ~300 mi estimated range should do it. M3LR EPA estimated range is 358 miles, so if ratio is roughly the same should be able to do ~286 miles using the conditions of that same trip.

AWD will definitely do a bit better than RWD in inclement weather, but at the end of the day, the tires you choose will be more important than having AWD. You just can't beat physics. I ended up going with RWD, because the $10k+ price difference for another motor, wheels, tires, suspension, 40 more miles of range wasn't worth it to me.
